Wheel the chairs made for carpeted surfaces roll okay on a shaggy carpet? My wife said to get a base, but I'd prefer to just use the carpet - just don't know how well the wheels will slide. Lastly, my home office has a shaggy carpet. I'd appreciate advice on those that had both, as well as some feedback on those that buy used more regularly. If sale price is offered price would be $1300 - more out of my initial budget. They are also on sale on the Steelcase website (still waiting to hear back if the local supplier is offering the 15% discount). Looking at features, I think I like the Gesture better. ![]() They don't have any of the Leap 2 or Gesture with the headrest. I am going to try that at a different office furniture supplier (no one in town has both) on Thursday. If I am going to buy new, I'm also considering the Steelcase Gesture. I don't tend to buy used and am a bit hesitant. The advantage of new is the comfort of the 10 year warranty (5 on fabric/seat), that would be serviced from the store I purchase from. So, I'm struggling whether to go out of my comfort zone and spend more than I want, versus, spending half price for a used one. The new CXO 6200D, had both up/down slide and tilt adjustments. One of the armrests (on both of the used chairs I tried (the guy had around 40 chairs shrink-wrapped in his garage), was finicky and the headrest was a bit wobbly and didn't stay in place. Second, some of the controls seemed to not be quite smooth. ![]() ![]() the first issue is that the headrest slides only up and down (does not tilt), and I'm not sure if I'm going to be happy with that. I just tried out a new chair ($999), and used ($500 with headrest - may be able to negotiate lower). I am leaning toward the Nightingale CXO 6200D. Than after reading reviews online and on the forums office chair forum here, and now am also considering doubling my budget and buying new (my wife thinks its crazy to spend that much!!!) I had originally set a budget of $300 and than $500 and was originally only looking to buy new. I've narrowed my chair choices somewhat - Depnds on the time of the day :)
